5 Things in the To Do List Assassin’s Arsenal

Take a moment and think of your To Do list.  If it’s anything like my list it can grow into a mountain of tasks, spanning different areas of your life.  There are need to do lists for home, family, health, business, church, finances, holidays, not to mention the list of things you want to do. There can be so many things that need your attention that it can feel overwhelming.

This is what was on my mind when I created the To Do List Assassin. She’s the busy woman’s alter ego when she hits that get it done stride. You’ve either been her or seen her in action, taking out a project or reaching her goals one task at a time. In this mode she is unstoppable.

The To Do List Assassin has the following in her arsenal to help her get things done:

1. Inspirational Bible Verse, Motto, Song

There’s nothing like an inspiring bible verse, motto or song to move us to take action.  My To Do List Assassin loves the Bible verse I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me (Phillipians 4:13). It’s the reminder that it’s in her to tackle that to do list and why she’s able to do it. Do you have a bible verse, motto or song that gets you going?

2.   To Do Dump List (Dump your to dos here)

To keep from feeling overwhelmed, the To Do List Assassin keeps a dump list of all the tasks that are crowding her mind. She also uses it to write to dos down as they pop in her head.  She’s comforted in knowing that she won’t forget them and she can deal with them at the appropriate time.

3.   Ability to Prioritize Tasks

Not all to dos are created equal. They can vary in urgency, importance, effort and time required. The To Do List Assassin knows that they can also vary in the way they stress her out. She takes this all into account and goes through her dump list and prioritize her to dos.

4.   Ability to Chose Primary Targets

After prioritizing her list, the To Do List Assassin sets her sites on three primary targets. These are her top three to dos of the day.  Can she have secondary targets that she tackles as well? Absolutely, but she knows that she can’t overload her schedule and lose focus of her primary targets.  Her goal is to complete the primary target list and any other task after that are bonus hits.

5.   Ability to Delegate

Knowing that the goal is to make sure the to do gets completed. The To Do List Assassin knows that she doesn’t have to be the one to complete it. It’s okay to delegate a tasks to someone else. There is nothing wrong with dividing and conquering.

With these five tools in her arsenal the To Do List Assassin can get things done efficiently and stay on top of her to do list. What other tools do you use to help you stay on top of your list? Maybe a To Do List like the one pictured below? Let me know in the comments.

A to do list with a place to capture 3 Primary tasks. It also includes a section to use as a dump list and pull bonus to dos from, after the primary list is completed.
