This past week I had a goal of increasing my daily steps from an average of 2,782 steps a day to 5,000. I didn’t quite make it, but I came close with a new average of 4,505. I would beat myself up a bit, but the two pounds I lost makes me feel better. I tracked my steps using my new Misfit Flash. With it planted on my wrist I don’t have to remember to take it with me. It syncs to the Misfit app on my phone and tracks my steps and sleep pattern breaking it into three categories: awake, light and restful. It’s also syncs with MyFitnessPal app and shows my calorie intake.

Because it tracked my sleep pattern, I noticed I slept less than 5 hours a night during the work week then crashed on Friday into Saturday getting 8 ½ hours of sleep.  This gives me something to watch for in the upcoming weeks, because not getting enough sleep can negatively affect my road to health.

I also like that it takes a battery and doesn’t have to be charged. The battery is supposed to last 6 months. This works for me because I have enough devices to charge without having to add my fitness tracker to the list.

I have read quite a few negative reviews stating the band is flimsy and breaks easily. With this in mind I already have a replacement band picked out. Overall, I like my Misfit Flash and currently categorize it as a pearl among pebbles. Though I suspect those who have had higher end fitness trackers may not feel the same. For me it was affordable and the app captures the information I need to help me as I travel the road to good health.

This week my goals are:

  1. Reach 5,000 steps a day
  2. Drink a minimum 64 ounces of water a day
  3. Decrease process foods/increase fruits and vegetables

Next week I’ll share my progress and if you’d like to comment and share your health journey with me, I’d love to hear from you.

Here’s to improving our health and happiness!
