Writer Up Cover2There are two terms that come to mind from my childhood, one when I was trying out for high school soft ball and the coach yell to me “batter up”. Other than neighborhood softball, I hadn’t really played before and I wasn’t into baseball so that was the first time I heard the term. I didn’t have to be a genius to know that it meant it was time for me to step up to the plate and take my turn at bat.   I hit a pop up that was caught easily.  Long story short, I didn’t make the team.

The second term that comes to mind is something my older brother would tell me when either his actions or my actions under his watch caused me to get hurt. “Soldier up,” he’d say and again, without explanation, I knew it meant to shake it off, stand strong and step up my game. Which meant whatever I had failed at that caused me to get hurt, guess what, I had to go at it again.

Now to all my aspiring authors, who’ve been sitting on a book idea for years, months or even days hear me as I say to you “Writer up?”  You know it’s time to step up to the plate, shake off your fear and stand strong and get to writing that book. And what if the book doesn’t do as well as you hoped it would? Well step up your game and fix what’s not working (edits needed, promote it better, etc.)  I suggest doing your adjustments as you are writing the next book. After all writing is a craft that improves while you are in the act of writing. There isn’t failure in writing and publishing a book there are levels of success so why fear failure?

How do I get started? If that’s your question then I have a guide that can help you.  Download a copy of Writer Up! A quick guide to starting your book ($7.50). It’s direct and to the point and if followed will get you to your pad and pen or laptop/computer prepared to write your book.

It’s time to share your work with the world, there is someone that is waiting to read your book and you can’t let them down. So to my aspiring authors I say to you again, “Writer Up!”

I have written and published six novels.  My latest book entitled Life on Fire, co-written with my sister Karen D. Bradley, was released in June 2015If you are new to writing a book or self-publishing and want to follow along as I share what I’ve learned, either subscribe to receive my blog posts at www.jenettambradley.com or request to be added to my  group on Facebook, JB’s Writers Studio where the links to the posts will be shared. The group will also be a place for members to ask questions and share information.
