There is one thing I hear repeatedly from people who know, or learn, that I have self-published books. They tell me, “I have a great idea for a book, I’ve been meaning to work on.” The conversation then tends to go down the path of, how do I get started? I rattle off some suggestions, offer to answer any questions they might have and the conversation ends.

Days, weeks, months or years go by and when I run into that same person guess what? They either:
1. Forgot the conversation and we repeat it.
2. Tell me they still haven’t gotten around to writing that book, but they still plan to write it.

This can be a cycle that repeats itself and I think when I see them, “Are you still pregnant with that book?”

Can you imagine being pregnant for years or even a lifetime? You wouldn’t want to carry a baby around that long and you shouldn’t carry your book around that long. Over the next several weeks, I am going to attempt to be a book mid-wife and provide information for those who are book pregnant to birth it through writing and self-publishing.

Now, no more excuses, it’s time to go into labor and bring your story into the world. If I’m speaking to you, or share this if you know someone who it should speak to, either subscribe to receive my blog posts at www.jenettambradley.com or request to be added to my group on Facebook, JB’s Writers Studio where the links to the posts will be shared. The group will also be a place for members to ask questions and share information. Now breathe and get ready to push.
